Sari Caine (Co-Founder/Co-Artistic Director)

Sari is a NYC native, a published playwright, actress and chess instructor teaching in NYC public and private schools, primarily to children with special needs.

Sari’s first job in show-biz was at age 3, shooting a Dimetapp commercial. More formal credits include Orange is the New Black, The Knick, Story of Vice, Brooklyn Roses, & Mr Destiny. She has performed regionally, and all over NYC at off and off-off Broadway theaters.

Her plays include: RUMPELSTILTSKIN, Mr Landing Takes a Fall, The Other Night Dear, if u luv me, The Wildest Ones, Dog Dreams, The Chess Lesson, The Thing About Dan, and The Cafe Plays. Her work has been produced and developed at The Flea Theater, The Lark, IRT, Jimmy’s No. 43, Dixon Place, Symphony Space, and St Clement’s Theater. Festivals include: Hunter First-Year Playwright Festival with IRT, Hunter MFA festival (Loewe Theater), New Works By Women (MTC Studio), The Strawberry Festival, John Chatterton’s short-play lab, Manhattan Repertory Theater Summer Festival, Hells Kitchen Festival. Her work has been accepted into MTR’s Winter Festival, The Network’s One Act Festival, and The Women’s Theater of Memphis.

Awards/residencies include: Space at Ryder Farms, the 2015 Anne Freedman Theater Student Theater Production Grant, Hunter Student Recruitment Award ’14 & ‘15, Manhattan Theater Source Neighborhood Playhouse, the Albert and Beatrice Sydney award, Jimmy’s No 43, and IRT 2013, ’14, & ’15.Mr Landing Takes A Fall was the 1st place recipient of the $1000 Bottletree Award, a PlayPenn semi-finalist, accepted into the Women’s Theater Festival of Memphis, and shortlisted for the Ronald Duncan award (UK) and the 24/7 festival (UK). She has also won awards for her poetry, fiction and non-fiction writing.

She volunteers at Amerikids teaching drama workshops. As a chess instructor volunteer work includes The Teak Foundation, Penn South for Seniors, World Chess for Refugees, and the Children’s Hospital for Special Surgery.
